Ticknors at Polaris
A menswear store fit-out at Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, Ohio, with more storefront glass, a larger sales floor and fitting rooms around a central lounge.

The project
Arcfluence designed the interior fit-out for Ticknors, an upscale menswear retailer, in a better location inside Polaris Fashion Place, with wider storefront glass, a larger sales floor and fitting rooms around a central lounge.
A better location inside Polaris
In a mall, position is much of the business. When a space in a stronger spot at Polaris became available, Ticknors, which has stores across Ohio and the Midwest, took it as an opportunity to expand. The space came with high-end fitting rooms from its previous tenant, which gave the project a head start. It still needed a full interior fit-out, with the layout, storefront and service areas reworked to fit how Ticknors sells.
More of the mall can see the clothes.
More of the floor is for selling them.
More storefront glass, more selling floor
The storefront is widened with additional glass, so more of the store and its merchandise are visible to people walking by. Inside, the back of house is trimmed. The store did not need a large break room, so that area goes to the sales floor, where it holds more clothing and gives customers more room to browse.
Fitting rooms around a central lounge
The existing fitting rooms were worth keeping, and the design builds on them. They circle a central sitting area under a chandelier, which turns a row of changing rooms into a small lounge and gives the store a focal point.
An accessible cash wrap and a tailor shop
A new cash wrap is designed to be ADA compliant and more efficient for the staff working behind it. A tailor shop at the back keeps alterations on site.
